MAYOR

PRIMARY ELECTION: JUNE 22,2021

The mayor of NYC is meant to address issues that matter to New Yorkers most. By managing a New York City budget of more than 80 billion dollars, the mayor decides on allocation with regard to housing, jobs, control over public schools, social service programs, policing, public health, laws, and preparing expense budgets. The mayor also manages the city's relationship with federal, state, and local governing entities.

This year will be the first year NYC institutes ranked-choice voting, meaning that voters will be able to rank their preferences of who they'd like to be elected on a 1-5 scale. If a candidate receives more than 50% of first-choice votes, that individual wins the election.
